Ground-breaking ceremony for the laboratory new building / construction work has begun (09/2021)

On 17.09.2021, in the presence of more than 70 colleagues from Spezial-EMV GmbH and the parent company iMAR Navigation GmbH, the ground-breaking ceremony for the new EMC Lab Building in St. Ingbert on the campus of iMAR Navigation GmbH took place in summery weather. All necessary building permits are now available, all bureaucratic requirements have been fulfilled and the first construction machines are already on site! Due to the good preparation, our site manager expects the construction project to be executed according to plan despite the tense material availability situation in the construction business. So, from October 2022 on, laboratory operations will be shifted seamlessly from Perl at St. Ingbert site with availability of an expanded infrastructure.

Spezial-EMV GmbH informs about the current status of the new laboratory building (03/2021)

Spezial-EMV GmbH can look back on an eventful and successful 1st quarter of 2021. Thus, the laboratory operation was seamlessly taken over by SGS-TÜV Saarland Forster GmbH on 01.01.2021. Within a short time, it was possible to resume the well-known service with fast response times and direct availability and thus continue to be available to existing customers as well as new customers as a reliable partner. As part of the takeover, all processes and measuring equipment were re-examined in an extensive quality offensive and a new QMH based on ISO 17025:2017 was introduced. All measurements are already carried out under the requirements and standards of ISO 17025:2017.
In the course of the expansions and modernizations, the current location in Perl-Sinz will be transferred to the iMAR Navigation GmbH site in St. Ingbert, which was expanded in 2020, in the third quarter of 2022. “We want to offer our customers optimal test conditions and also be prepared for future normative and specific questions,” says Dipl.-Ing (FH) Sven Eric Weber, laboratory manager and managing director of Spezial-EMV GmbH.
The new building offers approx. 550 of laboratory and office space and is designed for short set-up times and optimal set-up conditions in terms of processes. At the heart of the new building are two absorber halls with control and amplifier room of the latest technology. For this purpose, the company “Albatross Projects”, as a leading provider in the field of absorber halls, has designed a tailor-made concept together with Spezial-EMV GmbH and has been commissioned with the implementation.

The new SAC 3 absorber hall will enable a test specimen size of 2 x 2 with a load capacity of up to 2 tons. Furthermore, optimized testing options for automotive components as well as for the tests according to MIL-STD-461 (military qualification) and RTCA-DO160 (aviation qualification) are available. A newly developed connection system for connecting customer interfaces will round off the possibilities of the new hall in addition to the possibility of establishing HV-DC connections with up to 1,000 V and 400 A.
Another SAC 3 CDC absorber hall, specially optimized for the requirements of field-bound immunity, will connect to this hall. This means that irradiation tests in the frequency range from 9 kHz to 18 GHz can be carried out without longer set-up times. A centrally located control and amplifier room allows the simultaneous operation of both halls.
A newly designed customer and conference area enables direct communication with customers and offers the opportunity to carry out training courses and information events directly in-house.

SGS-TÜV Saarland Forster GmbH becomes Spezial-EMV GmbH (01/2021)

The renowned EMC test laboratory SGS-TÜV Saarland Forster GmbH can look back on more than 20 years of experience in the field of EMC testing and support for its customers in the design process at the Perl-Sinz site. From 1 January 2021, the laboratory will operate under the name Spezial-EMV GmbH with a significantly expanded team and testing technology.
The sole shareholder of Spezial-EMV GmbH is St. Ingbert-based iMAR Navigation GmbH. iMAR Navigation has been developing and manufacturing hardware and software for automotive, industrial, military and aeronautical applications in the field of navigation, stabilization and testing technology for national and international customers for over 25 years and has been certified as an approved manufacturer of aircraft equipment in accordance with ISO 9001, EN 9100 and EASA Part 21G for many years.
Mr. K.-H. Forster, who has been successfully leading SGS-TÜV Saarland Forster GmbH for over 20 years, will retire at this time, but he will continue to be available to Spezial-EMV GmbH in an advisory manner.
From January 1st 2021, Spezial-EMV GmbH will be managed by Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Sven Eric Weber as Managing Director and Laboratory Manager. After working as deputy laboratory manager at SGS-TÜV Saarland Forster GmbH until 2016, Mr. Weber was head of department for all European EMC and radio laboratories of a leading German testing service provider until the end of 2020.
Until Q2/2022, the laboratory will be operated and technically expanded at the previous location Perl-Sinz. During this time, the new company building including two SAC-3 and FAC-3 absorber halls will be completed in St. Ingbert, at the location of the parent company iMAR Navigation GmbH. In Q2/2022, the location of the laboratory will then be completely relocated to St. Ingbert, where additional infrastructure will be available for carrying out tests with regard to shock, vibration and temperature.

Accreditation and proficiency tests

The formal DAkkS accreditation of the laboratory according to ISO 17025:2017 due to the movement from Perl to St. Ingbert is planned for Q1/2024. There will be no relevant changes to the performance and quality of the tests carried out by us as a result of the accreditation, but our test reports will then additionally receive the declaration of the test site as an accredited laboratory.
In this context, our customers very much appreciate the fact that Spezial-EMV GmbH has participated very successfully in various so-called accredited INTERlaboratory tests of METAS since the beginning of its operational activities: Here, standardized test samples are examined and qualified by various EMC laboratories. A comparison of the results from a neutral organization tests according to how equal (or different) the test results were. This is an important component of our entire testing industry for quality assurance and to ensure the comparability of testing and certification results.  We can be proud of our results in these proficiency tests feel free to ask us for details at any time!
